Though some might mistakenly conflate the city with its larger neighbor, Dallas, Mesquite has a flavor and a vibe all its own. City Lake Aquatic Center
This Mesquite water park features two pools, Vanston and Town East. Kids can take advantage of the slides, water features, and splash areas, while adults may be interested in an Aqua Zumba or water exercise class.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway
Saturday nights from March through October, come watch the sprint cars, modifieds, and factory stocks square off on this famous dirt track in Mesquite. The exciting races involve up to 24 cars making 30 laps at break-neck speeds. Stick around after the races, as many of the drivers are happy to mingle with their fans.

Florence Ranch Homestead
The 1870’s home of local icons David and Julie Florence and their children is now an educational museum taking guests on a journey back through life on the prairie. Informed docents will guide you on a tour of this fine example of late 19th-century rural Texas architecture. Open for tours Thursday and Friday in the afternoon.

Mesquite Arena
This 5,500-seat multi-purpose building is the home of both the Mesquite Rodeo and the Mesquite Marshalls, one of the newest members of the Champions Indoor Football league. Catch the Elite Rodeo Athletes (ERA) qualifying rodeo events on Saturday nights between July and October, and home football games from February through June.

Mesquite Arts Center
Concerts, dances, and theatrical productions are among the more than 800 events held at the Mesquite Arts Center each year. Among other organizations, the Center serves as the home of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, the Mesquite Community Theatre, and the Mesquite Community Band. It’s also a place to find great programs for kids and adults, including youth arts and theater camps, after-school writing programs, and free outdoor concerts.

Mesquite BBQ
The name says it all. Mesquite BBQ is the place locals have been coming since 1959 for real Texas barbecue done right. Mesquite Golf Club
A 2014 Golf Course of the Year award winner, Mesquite Golf Club is a fantastically maintained 18-hole municipal course. Recent updates have brought 18 new sand traps, three new holes, expanded tee boxes, and an additional 700 yards of length. The course is also the home of The First Tee of Greater Dallas, offering kids aged seven to 17 beginner-level instruction during the summer.

Mesquite Heritage Trail
At 4.25 miles long, Heritage Trail is Mesquite’s largest recreational facility that connects residents with shopping areas, schools, the Mesquite Golf Club, other trailheads, and more. Walk, run, bike, or work out at the exercise station to really get the juices flowing.

Opal Lawrence Historical Park
This 1880’s homestead holds the rare distinction of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, named a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark, and recognized as a Century Family Farm by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Visitors can explore the virtually unchanged Lawrence home, as well as outbuildings to get an idea of farmstead living at the turn of the 20th century.
